    Gasco Pipelines Division was created in June 2002 with the aim to manage all Gasco pipelines network under a single authority. Earlier, these pipelines were operated & maintained by respective plants. The formation of the division came on the heels of merger of Atheer organization into Gasco. After the merger in Y2002 of the two biggest gas processing companies of UAE i.e. Atheer & Gasco, the resulting pipelines network operation being managed by Gasco become the largest among the ADNOC OPCOs.

    To operate such a wide spread pipelines network & to ensure its safe operation Gasco formed a separate operating division, Gasco Pipelines Division. The Pipelines Division Management office and one dedicated Operations, Maintenance team is located at Maqta to cover the Eastern Region business requirements while another similar team of Maintenance & Operations is established at Habshan to cover the Western Region.

    The division has recently handed over part of its eastern region operation to Dolphin Energy and at the same time it is planned that new Pipelines are soon to be added to its operation in the western region under various new Gasco major expansion projects. The total length of Pipelines network will reach almost to 3000 km by Y2010.

    Mission

    The mission of OPL team is to manage & operate Gasco & Adnoc pipelines network safely & efficiently in order to add value to the Gasco hydrocarbon supply chain & maintain continuity of gas supply to Power Generation, Industrial Consumers & Desalination Plants of Abu Dhabi & Dubai Emirates.


    Position of the Pipelines Division in relation to the Company:

    The Pipelines Division is part of the Company Operations Group, along with other Gasco Plants. Pipelines Division Vice President, reports to the Senior Vice President (Operations). The role of Pipelines Division is very important within the operational group as it is responsible for the safe transportation of each plant product to the end consumer or to the downstream plant.

    The Pipelines operated by Gasco could easily be termed as the blood vessels of UAE economy as it facilitate safe transport of energy to a variety of end users.

    Position of the Pipelines Division in relation to the Company:

    The total length of pipelines currently maintained by Pipelines Division is approx.1807 km ranging between 4” to 42” in sizes, supplying hydrocarbon & utilities to the end users plants located with in the emirates of Abu Dhabi & Dubai. The product handled by the Pipelines Division are Sales gas, Condensate, NGL, Crude Oil, Acid Gas, Water, Nitrogen & Air.

    Customers and Destination of the Pipelines Network:

    The main customers of Gasco Pipelines division are the process plants of GASCO, ADWEC (Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Company), Dolphin Energy Ltd., DUSUP (Dubai Supply Authority) in Jabel Ali & Gasco Injection units of ADCO. The Gasco Pipelines network sprawl is very wide, covering almost all the major inhabited areas of emirates of Abu Dhabi. The network has three gas distribution manifolds (Maqta, Habshan & Bab manifolds) from where our pipelines travel to locations like Ruwais, Asab, Buhasa, Mirfa, Maqta, Taweelah & Al Ain. Gasco is also supplying gas to many small and medium industries located in Abu Dhabi Industrial Area falling under ZonesCorp Authority.

    Following new customers are being added to the division network:

  • EMAL (Emirates Aluminum Company)
  • MASDAR
  • ESI (Emirates Steel Industry)
  • Yas Island Formula One Grand Prix Circuit
  • Under the recently signed lease agreement Gasco handed over part of its Eastern Region network to Dolphin Energy Ltd, a company handling sales gas transported from Qatar to connect and operate part of the ADNOC existing eastern gas pipelines network for supplying gas to DUSUP & ADWEC Plants.

    The whole Pipelines network is divided into two regions i.e. Eastern & Western. The western region includes pipelines following corridor: Habshan –Ruwais, Habshan Mirfa, Ruwais- Jabel Dhanna, Ruwais-Shweihat, Habshan-Buhasa, and Habshan –Asab.

    The Eastern region includes pipelines following route: Maqta-Taweelah, Maqta- Abu Dhabi Industrial Area, Al Ain Area, Zayed Military City area, Ghantoot area and Al Raha Beach area.
