Dear Friends,

Welcome to Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. “GASCO”.

It’s a great pleasure for me to introduce this site, which will give you more information on GASCO and its functioning.

Incorporated in 1978 as a joint venture and being a part of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), its ownership is shared by ADNOC (68 %), Shell (15%), Total (15%), and Partex (2%).
GASCO is an operating company engaged in the extraction of natural gas liquids from associated and natural gas. Associated Gas Plants at Asab, Bab and Bu Hasa are (called NGL Extraction Plants where as natural gas plants at Habshan and Asab are called Gas Plants. Common to all NGL Extraction and Gas Plants is Ruwais plant for the purpose of NGL treatment, fractionation, storage and shipping.

The fractionation plant at Ruwais receives Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) through the common pipeline system from GASCO plants in addition to raw LPG from TAKREER Ruwais Refinery for treatment and fractionation of NGL into final products such as Raw Ethane, Liquid Propane, Butane and Pentane Plus (Light Naphtha). Raw Ethane is piped to Petrochemical Complex (Borouge) and other final products are delivered to the shareholders as per their share. In 2001 GASCO’s activities were integrated with Abu Dhabi Gas Company (ATHEER) making it one of the largest gas processing companies in the world and the biggest industrial project in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E).

Subsequent to 2001 integration of ATHEER, ADNOC delegated management of Asab Gas Plant (Condensate Recovery) situated 7 Km from Asab NGL Plant from April 2004 onwards to GASCO on their behalf to further achieve the operational synergy.
Today, GASCO operates and maintains

Three NGL Plants,
Two Gas Plants,
One NGL fractionation plant,
Two Gas Injection Plants,
Two Gas Distribution Hubs,
Road tankers for transportation of Liquid Sulphur, and High pressure (40 bara) gas pipeline network including 25 Consumer Receiving Stations for supplying gas to 13 gas consumers.

Subsequent to the successful integration of the two corporate identities, GASCO launched GASCO 21 project to build teams, leadership and unified corporate cultural model to face the challenges of the 21st century.
GASCO is a key member in the country’s Hydrocarbons product chain and thus plays a significant role in the economy of UAE. The gas production and supply form a vital input to the energy sector, strategically important businesses, infrastructure industries and other manufacturing industries in the country.

Most of our group companies are critically dependent on our operations, for their raw material inputs and fuel gas supplies. The energy sector’s dependence on gas as a raw material means that GASCO must be in a position to meet the continuously increasing demand for gas fuelled by industrial and economic growth of the country. Our long term strategic plans for growth are driven by these and other considerations.

GASCO is currently going through a major expansion and modernization phase. 4 mega projects with capital investment outlay of the order of US $ 6.0 Billion are in progress. These projects, on being completed by early 2008, will make GASCO the largest gas processing plant in the world. Further growth plans are already underway under the Gas Master Plan and Integrated Gas Development Programme (GMP & IGD)

You can have more details on the growth of GASCO and the projects/programmes in the ‘ Projects Section’ .

GASCO’s main priority is not only to maximize production in the most cost effective manner but also to focus on

Safety of the employees and the local communities.
Protection of the Environment
Plant’s safety and reliability
Recruiting capable, efficient and highly-qualified employees
Emiratisation by recruiting and developing suitably qualified U.A.E Nationals
